Death of Alfred Pearse
Alfred Pearse, a life-long resident of the Ohlman-Nokomis community, died at his home in Coalton at 8:35 p.m. Friday, April 27, at the age of 52 years and seven months. He had been ill two years, his death being due to tuberculosis. Until he became ill, Mr. Pearse was employed as a coal miner.
He was born in Ohlman, Illinois, September 27, 1881 and had lived near Nokomis since 1918. He was a son of the late William and Elizabeth (Ellinger) Pearse. On February 2, 1915, he was united in marriage with Miss Katherine Rosseler at Hillsboro. Mrs. Pearse and the following children survive: Alfred, Dorothy, Ida Marie and Helen, all living at home. One daughter died in infancy. Two sisters, also survive. They are Mrs. C. J. Mills of Creve Couer, Mo., and Mrs. J. G. Ewing of Hardtner, Kansas. A brother and two sisters are deceased.
Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Dude Funeral Home by Rev. W. G. Lloyd, pastor of the First M.E. Church.
Burial was made in the Ohlman cemetery under the auspices of the Progressive Miners of America and Ladies Auxiliary.--Nokomis Free Press-Progress, May 2, 1934
