JAMES "L. V." MAGAR
September 29, 1948 ~ February 23, 2019

James “LV” Magar, age 70, was born September 29, 1948 in Garvin, Oklahoma, the son of Lester J. Magar and Fannie Lou (Woods) Magar and had lived in the Hugo area since 1979.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Nita; a daughter Sonia Magar; a sister Norma Smith; and a cousin J.C Magar.

James married Bonita “Nita” Jo (Proctor) on March 10, 1973 in Nash, Texas. He was employed by Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad and built bridges and depots during his tenure. He retired after 43 years.

He grew up with his cousin J.C. Magar who later became an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper who was killed in the line of duty in 1975. He considered J.C. and Dale Robertson as brothers.

James enjoyed riding horses and motorcycles when he was younger, hunting, fishing, ranching, and raising his cattle. Most especially, he enjoyed spending time with grandkids and going to ballgames.

Survivors include: sons, Jim Magar and Jay Magar of Hugo; daughter, Becky Pate of Idabel; two sisters, Jean Provence of Idabel and Johnnie Galatin of Edmond, Oklahoma;

Grandchildren, Jaylee Magar, Karsyn Hammock, Chasity Grayson, Charlie DeLozier, Charity Alderman, Curstin Pate, Chase Oliver, Celeste Oliver, Chance Farley & Cutter Hendricks; fifteen great grandchildren several nieces and nephews along with many other relatives and friends.
