Avilla - Edith V. (Uhl) Whonsetler, 85, of Avilla, passed away on Friday Feb 22, 2019 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. She was born on Sept 17, 1933 in Noble County to the late Clarence and Ruby (Myers) Uhl. Edith married Joseph Whonsetler on Feb 21, 1953 in Syracuse. He preceded her in death on June 8, 1997. She was employed with Eaton Corp for nearly 20 years, retiring in 1995. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a former 4H leader, and played softball on a summer league when she was younger. In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, bowling, and watching IU basketball. Edith leaves behind a son, Guy (Twila) Whonsetler of LaOtto, Linda (Paul) Coy of Albion, grandchildren, Joey (Curt) Fenker, Jenny (Johnny) Mays, Nicole Greer, Kyle Whonsetler, and Kelly Whonsetler, and great grandchildren, Madelynn and Maddox Mays. Also surviving are brothers, Paul (Pat) Uhl of Nashville, TN, and Floyd (Rosemary) Uhl, of Godfrey, IL, sisters, Ruth (Wally) Prentice of Kendallville, and Deloris Peacock of Ft. Wayne. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son Craig Whonsetler, and a brother, Lloyd Uhl. Funeral service is 10:00am Wednesday Feb 27, 2019 at Harper Funeral Homes, Avilla Chapel, 530 N Main St., Avilla, with visitation one hour prior to service. Visitation also from 2-4 & 6-8 Tuesday Feb 26, 2019 at the funeral home. Burial at Hooper-King Cemetery, rural Avilla. Contributions in Edith's memory may be directed to the Swan Township 4H.
