Elizabeth's maiden name comes from Moravian Archives information. Many of her daughters were associated with the Moravian church and son Frances married a Moravian; Elizabeth might have been Moravian. Her granddaughter Elizabeth Barneycastle's name is found in the Moravian birthday book with the notation Bernhard Kessler next to her name . Ancestry DNA has confirmed that Elizabeth Kessler, is the daughter of (Hans) Abraham Kessler & Maria Magdalena Kessler, from Heidelberg PA. daughter. I still can't be sure Elizabeth is the mother of Samuel and Esther the two oldest children. She is the mother of all the children from Hannah to Elizabeth, the youngest. The notation in the Moravian Birthday Book is the combination of Elizabeth's maternal grandparents surnames, so they must be the Moravian connection.
Frederick moved from Salisbury Maryland with Samuel and Esther and maybe a first wife, to Pennsylvania briefly where John S. was born, and traveled the Great Wagon Road to Rowan County, North Carolina, in the Clemmons area. It is now Forsyth County but was also Davidson County at one point. Frederick might have married Elizabeth in PA and they went to NC together. They lived on a 90 acre farm on the banks of Muddy Creek bordering the Moravian property. Frederick died in 1829 and Elizabeth was alive during the probate and received a widows allowance. The probate records are the only records with her first name which is found- the NC personal estate sale records. There is no record of her death, but she likely died before the 1840 census, since none of the children's households include an older woman. Children: Samuel, Esther Hetty, Hannah, John S., Leah, Peter, Francis, Elizabeth. She and Frederick would have been buried on the farm in Clemmons.
