Funeral Services for Jimmy Adkins, age 71 of Irving, TX will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Wise Funeral Home Chapel 219 W. Sam Rayburn Dr. Bonham, TX. Officiating will be Chaplain Bob Garcia. Private Interment will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens in Irving, TX. Jimmy passed away on February 14, 2019. He was born August 24, 1947 in Mount Calm, Texas to Walter Shurette Adkins & Mozelle Laverne Blount.

Jimmy enjoyed fishing, outdoors, watching westerns and scary movies, and eating sweets. He was a volunteer at the Fort Worth VA Hospital and he was a member Calvary Temple Church in Irving, Texas. He served in the US NAVY from November 16,1966 to August 3, 1970. He retired from DARR Equipment after 20 years as a welder. He was a loving father and a hard worker and enjoyed his family very much.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Shurette Adkins & Mozelle Laverne Adkins and his nephew Mark Adkins.

Surviving are his children, April Parks and husband Andy, and Heather Blake, Four grandchildren: Dalton Poppenger, Chance England, Hunter England and Landen Blake; Great-grandchild: Elijah Poppenger; Sister: Kay Miller and her husband Arv; Three brothers: Eugene Adkins and wife Jean, Charles Adkins and wife Abbie and Keith Adkins and wife Linda. Numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and a host of friends.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Dalton Poppenger, Chance England, Hunter England, and Landen Blake.
