Simeon Simpson

Simeon, son of Jacob and Susan(sic) Simpson, was born near Green Castle, Ind., December 25, 1845 and departed this life at his home in Mt. Sterling, Thursday, March 10, 1927.

He was a family of six children, four boys and two girls and he is the last member of his family. When he was five years old he came with his parents to Illinois and settled in Woodford county near Eureka, and when fifteen years of age he removed with his parents to Adams county and settled near Augusta, and later came to Brown county where he farmed until his retirement several years age since which time he has made his home in this city where he has been loved and respected by a large circle of firends.

He was converted and united with the Methodist church when about twenty years old and has continued a faithful member ever since. He was united in marriage with Almira Cherington and to this union two children were born both daughters, one dying in infancy and the other living to the age of 16 years. His wife died and he was married to Susan Cain January 1, 1876 and she died ten years ago. He was married to Mrs. Florence Jane Perry, June 16, 1920 and she is left to mourn his death. She ministered to her companion with tender care during the last few months of life when health was failing and the feebleness of age was creeping upon him. His going was peaceful and he was ready as he often told his pastor he had nothing to fear and the thoughts of dying had no terror to him.

He was a member of the I.O.O.F. of this city for a number of years and carefully lived according to the teachings of his God and the high standards of morality taught by the church.
