Orangeburg - David Wayne Brooker, 66, of 3207 Charleston Highway, Orangeburg, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, at St. George Baptist Church, Shillings Bridge Road, Orangeburg, with the Rev. Brad Chandler officiating. Burial, with the Elks service, will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Orangeburg. Pallbearers will be Bubba Arant, Willie Zeigler, Del Driggers, Jimmy Dupree, Jack Dupree, Joe Dupree, Ernie Lee and Freddie Lee. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Elks Lodge #897, and friends Keio Ritter, Jermaine Ritter, Troy Ritter and Rondre Ritter. Thompson Funeral Home Inc. in Orangeburg is in charge of the service. He was born Oct. 1, 1946, in Orangeburg, the son of the late Gary E. Brooker Jr. and the late Nellie Lee Brooker. He was a member of Elks Lodge #897, past grand exalted ruler, past district deputy and past state president. He served on all kinds of committees including trustee and house committees. He also served with various committees with the S.C. Elks Association. Survivors include his wife, Merilyn McDaniel Brooker of Orangeburg; children, Kris Davis, Tanya Davis and Tiki Davis, all of Orangeburg; grandchildren, Nicholas (Cloda) Johnson, Shane Davis, Emily Davis, Alec Dukes, Brandon Littrell and Hailie Littrell; a great-grandchild, Ainsley Rae Johnson; and a sister; Joan (James) Dupree. The family will receive friends at the residence, 3207 Charleston Highway, Orangeburg; the residence of Joan and Jim Dupree, 949 Neeses Highway, Orangeburg; and the funeral home. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at Thompson Funeral Home Inc. in Orangeburg.
