A. Wallace Burdick, descendant of early settlers in Rhode Island and former manufacturer of collars, cuffs and shirts in this city, died this morning at his home, 2363 Burdett Avenue, after a long illness.
Mr. Burdick was born in Albany, Pa., but spent most of his life in Troy. He was educated in the public schools of the city and attended the Carnell Business College in the old Troy Times Building. He was a lineal descendant of Robert Burdick, who settled in Rhode Island in 1652.
For 46 years Mr. Burdick was engaged in the manufacture of collars, cuffs and shirts in this city and inspected and helped process thousands of yards of fine Dublin linen. He married Agnes Stansfield of Brooklyn who survives as do a son, W. Thurston Burdick of Chicago, and a daughter, Miss Laura E. Burdick of this city. Mr. Burdick was a member of the Ninth Presbyterian Church and former secretary of the board of trustees. He was a life member of Apollo Lodge, No. 13, F. and A. M., and of Apollo Chapter, No. 48, R. A.M., being a member of both bodies for more than fifty years. In December, 1938, he was presented a fifty year membership pin by the lodge.
The funeral will be Thursday at 2:30 p.m. from the Morris Funeral Home, 2154 Fifth Avenue, where Rev. Edward A. Loux, D.D., former pastor of the Ninth Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Interment will, be In Oakwood Cemetery.
