"Miss Eloise H. Boorn, 88, of 1 Terrace Heights, New Berlin, a former resident of Oneonta and a retired schoolteacher, died Friday, Jan. 26, at Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown. She had been in poor health for some time. She was born Feb. 5, 1890 at Decatur, a daughter of Elmer Dayton and Kate Lottie (Allen) Boorn. She had taught at the elementary level in the Sharon Springs school system for 16 years before retirement. She had earlier taught in Becket, Mass., and New Ashford, Mass. Miss Boorn had lived in Oneonta for 30 years following her retirement and was a partner in the Campus Grocery with Mr. and Mrs. Paul Aspinwall. She was a member of Sharon Springs Chapter 396, Order of the Eastern Star, and the West End Community Baptist Church, Oneonta. Surviving is a sister-in-law, Mrs. Annie Boorn, Cooperstown. The funeral and committal were at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28 at the Bookhout Funeral Home, Oneonta, with the Rev. Andrew R. Scott, pastor of the West End Community Baptist Church, officiating.
