Secondo was second born to parents Sante Carnera and Giovanna Mazziol. He was the brother of world champion heavy weight boxer(c1933) Primo Carnera(born1906) and Severino Carnera(born 1912). When he was 4 years old his parents and his brother Primo emigrated to Germany, staying with their maternal grandparents, where his sibling twins Severino and Umberto were born, with Umberto presumably dying a few days afterwards. A total of 3 siblings died in infancy.
