Entered into eternal rest at his DeSoto residence on Thursday, January 31, 2019. Born January 8, 1934, in Carter, Oklahoma, to the late Wiley Emerson Downs and the late Myrtle Minnie (Gambill) Knuckles. He had retired from Lewis Pump Company as a machinist and was a U.S. Army veteran who had served in the Korean War. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and singing at his Church; he had traveled 48 out of 50 states on his motorcycle and was a master "fixer" and "recycler".
Survived by his loving family which includes his wife of 64 years, Ruth Ann (Thompson) Downs, sons, Keith (Kim) Downs of Festus, MO, David (Angelia) Downs of Centralia, IL, Jack (Phyllis) Downs of Ballwin, MO, daughters, Gwen (Scott) Spiegel of Pevely, MO and Trish (Gary) Elrod of Fenton, MO, brother, Gene (Vivian) Knuckles of Mount Enterprise, TX, 13 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by brothers, Wiley and Jack Downs, sisters, Stella Knuckles, Thelma Knuckles, Bessie Moore, Birdie Cates and Dorothy Lincecum.
