Mary LuRae Carter Johnson passed away on Saturday, January 19, 2019 in Centerville at age ninety-one.

She was born May 16, 1927 in Provo to Raymond Crawley Carter and Fannie Louise Irons. She married Paul Emil Johnson on June 3, 1947.

Mary loved to read and spend time knitting, crocheting, doing embroidery, needlepoint, and quilting. She served in the Salt Lake Temple for thirteen years along with Paul. Mary also worked for Auerbach’s for many years.

Mary is survived by her children, Pamela Johnson-Bennett, Susan (Rolan) Carr, Dorene (Mike) Thomas, Pauline (Mike) Peery, Steven (Kathleen) Johnson, and David (Melanie) Johnson; and two sisters, Elaine Haake and Anita Carpenter. She is also survived by twenty-seven grandchildren and sixty-one great-grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Paul; parents; a grandchild, Kevin Bennett; and two great-grandchildren, William Thomas and Ammon Haag.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 25, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Lake View Ward Chapel, 1450 North Main Street, Centerville, with a viewing prior to the services at 10:00 a.m.
Interment will be at the Vine Bluff Cemetery in Nephi.
