James B. Abbott, one of the first residents of Lancaster county, died on his 85th birthday Thursday morning, at 2 o'clock. Mr. Abbott was a settler in Lancaster county when the country was first opened up and has farmed near Denton, Nebr. for a great many years. Death was due to old age.

Funeral services will be held at the home Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, with burial at the home place by the side of his wife, who died six years ago. Mr. Abbott leaves nine children as follows: Frank E., Harry G., W. J. Abbott, James B. Abbott, Jr., Mrs. Lottie Giles, Mrs. Ruth Wigg, all living in Lancaster county, and Mrs. Gertrude Garrett of Tacoma, Wash; Mrs. Anna J. Bellew, Omaha; E. C. Abbott, Giltedge, Montana.
