MAYFIELD, Ky. - Hicks Atherton, 63, of Mayfield Rt. 6, died at 12:50 a.m today at Lourdes Hospital in Paducah.

Mr. Atherton was a retired carpenter and a member of Northside Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mildred Wyatt Atherton; his mother, Ruby Atherton of Mayfield; two sons, Ernest Ray Atherton and John Ed Atherton, both of Mayfield; three brothers, Larry Atherton of Mayfield, Doris Atherton of Boaz, and Brent Atherton of Lone Oak; two sisters, Betty Allen of Wingo, and Faye Cook of Mayfield; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

His father, H.H. Atherton, preceded him in death.

Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Maplewood Cemetery. The Rev. David Gossum will officiate.
