Evart W Gustafson, 72, of Aledo died Monday, July 8, 1996, at the Trinity Medical Center East Campus in Moline.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo. The Reverend Kevin Jennings officiating.
Burial will be in the Aledo Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Fippinger Funeral Home in Aledo where memorials may be left to the American Cancer Society or to the Hamlet Perryton Presbyterian Church.
He was born November 3, 1923, in Mercer County a son of John & Anna Erickson Gustafson. He received his education from the local Aledo schools and graduated from the Aledo High School in 1941.
He married Mildred J Monson December 18, 1949 in Peoria.
He was a U.S. Navy Veteran.
He was a member and former elder of the Hamlet Perryton Presbyterian Church. He was a member of the Mercer County Farm Bureau and the AARP.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, carpentry and loved raising livestock.
He is survived by his wife; 3 daughters and son-in-laws, Kathy & Gil Simmons, Vicki & Dennis Patterson, and Tammy Gustafson all of Aledo; 2 sons and daughter-in-laws, Steve & Paula Gustafson of Viola and Ron Gustafson of Aledo; 8 grandchildren, Jody and Susan Patterson both of Aledo, Melissa Simmons of Milan, Heather and Holly Simmons both of Aledo, Scott, Elizabeth and Darcy Gustafson all of Viola; 1 sister, Ruth Thomson of East Moline; and 3 brothers, Raymond of San Bernadino, CA, Robert of Rock Island and Allen of Viola.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother, Virgil.
Pallbearers were to be William and Robert Thomson, Roger Davis, Daniel Lloyd, Mark Allen and George D Fortner.
Honorary pallbearers were to be Robert Brokaw, Louis Lloyd, Clair Olson, Richard Brokaw, Otis Mack and Loyd Lafever.
