George M. Yohe Sr.
SPRING GROVE – George M. Yohe Sr., 68, of Spring Grove, formerly of Jefferson, died at 2:45 p.m. Wednesday at his home. He was the husband of Nellie E. (Schuman) Yohe, who died Oct. 28, 1991.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Sauter-Irwin Funeral Home, 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove. Burial will be in Jefferson Cemetery, with military rites by York County Veterans Honor Guard.
Mr. Yohe was born Sept. 20, 1927, in Jackson Township. He was the son of the late Curtis and Mary Ellen (Laughman) Yohe.
He was a ranger for Codorus State Park for more than 20 years and a former chief of police of Jefferson Borough. He retired from the U.S. Army, where he was a master sergeant, after 22 years of service.
He was a life member of Private Allen J. Beck Jr. Post 5265 Veterans of Foreign Wars in Spring Grove and Jefferson Chapter 3699 American Association of Retired Persons.
Mr. Yohe is survived by a son, George M. Yohe Jr. of Glen Rock RD 1; three daughters, Amazette M. Dell of Hanover, Mary-Ellen M. Beck of Seven Valleys RD 2 and Bonne M. Kessler of Spring Grove RD 2; eight grandchildren; and three brothers, Philip E. Yohe and Curtis S. Yohe, both of Spring Grove RD 1, and Arthur L. "Bud" Hoff of Jefferson.
Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Allan S. Wysocki, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson.
