Known to friends and family as Libby, she was born September 29, 1922, on the family farm in Brooklyn, Indiana, to the late Joseph and Bessie (Armstrong) Baughman.
Libby and the love of her life, Fred E. Kinder, were engaged on her birthday and she maintained that was the best present she ever received. They were married November 27, 1946. Just a few months shy of their 60th wedding anniversary. Fred passed away on August 8, 2006.
Libby is survived by daughters Sherry (Stuart) Whitcomb, Kokomo and Deborah (Donald) Shepherd, Terre Haute; two grandchildren, Jeff (Amalia) Whitcomb of Tampa, FL, and Heather (Brady) Meadors of Terre Haute; three great grandchildren, Chase Meadors and Isabella and Colton Whitcomb; a brother, William Baughman and sister-in-law Sharon (Joe) Baughman and Mary (Ralph) Thomas.
In addition to her husband, Libby was predeceased by brothers, Ernest and Joseph Baughman.
In accordance with Libby's wishes, graveside rites will be Sunday, January 27, 2019, at 2:00 pm at Springville Cemetery West in Springville, Indiana with Donald Shepherd officiating.
The cemetery is located on Bedford Street just north of the Hwy 54-58 junction in Springville (Lawrence county). It is the 1st cemetery on the right or turn on Brick Street from Hwy 54-58. Go north turn lift at the post office on Bedford Street and the cemetery is on the left after the Baptist Cemetery.
