From Bala Chitto Simmons book:
PARLEY TURLEY VARNADO, youngest child of Emanuel D. and Sarah Simmons Varnado, died November 6, 1933, at age 81, according to Mrs. Leah Varnado Mulkey. We conclude from this that he was born in 1852. He was not included in the 1850 census for Pike County, Mississippi with the family. Parley was baptized at Mt. Zion church September 8, 1872.
He married 1) Georgia Ann Dykes. Our best information is that Parley is buried at East Fork church, Louisiana. They say Georgia Ann is buried in the old cemetery with Parley's parents, south of Mt. Zion church. They were the parents of 12 children, 6 of them growing to maturity.

After Georgia Ann died, Parley remained a widower for some years. Then on January 15, 1914, he married Leah Wells. (Leah gives this as the date of her marriage). Leah was a daughter of Alfred Wells. She was born April 1, 1896; hence at the time of her marriage she was about 17 years old and Parley was about 62. Leah and Parley had 3 children.
After the death of Parley, Leah Wells Varnado married 2) Dewitt C. Mulkey on August 4, 1934. Her age was given then as 39. No children.
Dewitt died some years ago, and Leah now makes her home with a granddaughter, Mrs. Ray Lee. They were living in 1959 near Oral church, east of Tylertown, Miss.
Leah says Parley died November 6, 1933, at age 81.

Children with 2nd wife:
