Alfredo was born in Conflenti, Italy. At 20 years of age, he was drafted in the Alpini Army. Thereafter, he immigrated to Port Arthur, Ontario in 1958. He married his loving wife Maria in 1960 and together they raised 3 children, Umberto, Tony, and Lucy. For 38 years Freddy supported his family, first as a tailor, then working as a car painter in various car dealerships in Thunder Bay, eventually retiring in 1996. He was a lifetime member of the Italian Mutual Benefit Society of Port Arthur. Alfredo devoted his life to his family. He truly enjoyed family gatherings and loved playing with all of his grandchildren. His greatest skill was his ability to entertain his family and friends. He had a God-given gift for making people laugh, especially when least expected. He was always the “life of the party.” People were drawn to him and looked forward to one of his infamous jokes. It is quite obvious that the Lord needed a comedian in heaven. In the Italian tradition, Freddy was passionate about his garden, making wine and sausages and sharing the fruits of his labour with others. He also loved to dance and enjoyed singing Italian songs with his wife, family, and friends.

Alfredo is predeceased by his parents Filberto and Luigina and brothers Antonio and Giovanni. He is survived by the love of his life and companion of 46 years, Maria, his children Umberto (Adele), Tony (Lorraine) and Lucy (Pino) Tassone; grandchildren – Ashley, Paul, Adrian, James, Anthony, and Kyra. Also survived by his best friend and brother; Gino (Maria), nephew; Roberto (Stephanie), niece; Luigina (Vince) and great-nieces Sabrina, Cristina and Michayla, and numerous relations overseas.
