Elisha H. Bowlby was born in New Jersey October 3, 1818, and died at the home of his son, J. H. Bowlby, in this city, June 11, 1910, at the age of 91 years, 8 months and 8 days.
Early in life he removed to Marion county, Ind., where he was united in marriage to Eliza Anderson. To this union five sons were born, four of whom are living: J. W., of Chattanooga, Okla.; H. V. and I. M., of Seattle, Wash., and J. H., of Savonburg, Kans.

E. H. Bolby, of LaHarpe, died in Savonsburg, Kas., Saturday, June 12, at the age of ninety years and seven months. He leaves a wife, one daughter and five sons to mourn his loss. Funeral services were held this afternoon and interment will be made at Savonsburg. Mr. Bolby lived on Ozark township about twenty five years and was well known in Colony and vicinity. He was the brother in-law of Mrs. Mid Shockey and Mrs. W. S. Wise.
In 1868 he came to Kansas and settled on a farm in Doniphan county, near Severance, where his wife died in May 1873. In 1874 he was married to Lydia Jane Wollard and of this union there were born one son, Charles F., of Colony, Kans., and one daughter Mrs. Stella Wallis, of LaHarpe, Kans. He removed with his family to Allen county in 1884, locating near LaHarpe.
Mr. Bowlby was for many years a member of the Baptist church and united in 1890 with the Seventh Day Adventist church. He was an honorable man in every way and highly respected by all who knew him.
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Q. W. Brakebill from the home at 10 o'clock Monday morning and burial was in Mt. Mariah cemetery.
