Bettye Jo Caldwell was born in Mound, Texas on February 27, 1930 to Velma and Eugene Caldwell. She married Otis LaRue In 1944, they had three daughters and three sons together. Bettye worked as a painter and became the first female union painter in Bell County, Texas. She moved to California and ran a successful painting company with her son John Michael LaRue for several years.
Bettye returned to Texas in early 2005 and passed away August 31, 2005 in Hamilton.
