Wallace Howard Christie, Sr, 80, of Lake City, passed away Monday, January 7, 2019 at the Lake City Medical Center following a brief illness. He was a lifelong resident of Lake City and the son of the late Harry Daniel Christie and Ethel Mae (Lee) Christie. Mr. Christie was a graduate of Columbia High School class of 1956 and he retired from the Florida National Guard after 30 years of service. He was a longtime member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church and enjoyed golfing and shooting in his spare time. Mr. Christie was preceded in death in 2014 by his wife of 35 years, Janet Marie (Drews) Christie. Survivors include one son, Wallace H. Christie , Jr. (Tori) of Hahira, GA; two daughters, Lyn Irvin (Jimmy) of Day, Florida and Sherri Fekel (Rodger) of Valdosta, GA; one sister, Rubye Nell Smedley (Jeff) of Lake City; seven grandchildren, Michael Driver of Lake City, Jeremy Driver (Sarah) of Day, Florida, Alan Driver of Norfolk, VA, Brian Felkel (Mia) of Hahira, GA; five great-grandchildren, Olivia, Carly, Jett Driver and Brayden Felkel; one nephew, Chris Yarbrough (Jami) of Lake City and his children, Jordan, Jace, Jaeger, Jasper and Jersey; one niece, Angie Martin (Bill) of Gainesville and her children, Billy, and Jacob; and his beloved dog and faithful companion "Lucy". Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, Jan 11, 2019 at 11:00 am at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church with Pastor Kevin Hall officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Cemetery.
