Daughter of Giuseppe Marinello (1855-1902) and Maria Lumia (b. 1855). Granddaughter of Mariano Marinello (born c. 1812), Sebastiana Maniscalco (b. 1823), Antonino Lumia (born c. 1815), and Accursia Butera (1832-1917). Sister of Sebastiana Pumilia and Mariano Marinello. Half-Sister of Filippo Bentivegna and Caterina Marinello. Wife of Accursio "James" Falcone (1876-1951). Mother of Agostino (1907-1907), August, Jean, Joseph, Charles, Jack, Philip (1920-1920), Michael (1920-1921), Anthony, and Mary.

Family tradition says she was born in Mamaroneck but her death certificate says she was born in Italy. Her death certificate also says her birthdate was November 6, 1892 even though her headstone says she was born in 1890. Her death certificate says she was the daughter of Anthony Marinella and Mary Burcato but, so far, there is no other evidence to support this.

2020/21 Update. Her marriage record, birth records in Sciacca, Sicily, the 1900 U.S. Census, and DNA evidence confirm that Gussie was born on November 20, 1888 in Sciacca, Sicily and that she was the daughter of Giuseppe Marinello and Maria Lumia.

She arrived in New York from Italy with her mother Maria Lumia, her sister Sebastiana, and her brother Mariano on the S.S. Massilia on October 29, 1897 one month before her 9th birthday. Her father, Giuseppe Marinello, had already immigrated to America shortly after her birth.

This page was created by her great-grandson based on information provided by her death certificate, marriage record, the records of Sciacca, Sicily, and DNA evidence including multiple DNA matches with descendants of her siblings Sebastiana Pumilia and Filippo Bentivegna.
