St. George - Maxine Bowler Lindsay died January 3, 2019 in St. George, Utah, at age 94.
Maxine was born in Gunlock, Utah, March 7, 1924, the youngest of the 12 children born to Francis Joseph and Annie P Holt Bowler.
All of her siblings are deceased.
Maxine spent her childhood in Gunlock, attending high school and some college in St. George.
In 1943 she married John Bennett Lindsay, a flight instructor at the Dixie airport.
After the end of WWII John and Maxine moved to Santa Paula, California, where John's family lived.
For the next 30 plus years they made their home in the beautiful Santa Clara valley.
While John farmed and worked at an insectary, Maxine kept a beautiful home, sewed for many of her community, and enjoyed working part time in several dress shops.
The Lindsay's have two children: John Bennett Lindsay, Jr. and wife Linda Pedersen Lindsay, of Hermosa Beach, CA, and Gail Lindsay Pidduck, of Santa Paula, CA.
Maxine is also loved by 5 grandchildren, William (Suzannah) Pidduck, Josh (Heidi) Lindsay, Nate Pidduck, Jered (Ramya) Lindsay, and Megan (Paul) Avery.
In her last few years the joy of her life have been her great-grandchildren, Laird and Rafe Pidduck, Salila Lindsay, Quinn Lindsay, and Elijah Avery.
Grama Max will be remembered for her quick wit, sharp mind, and delicious pies.
She was blessed by many nieces and nephews, both real and adopted and several adopted daughters, and countless friends.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, January 12, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Gunlock Ward Chapel, 733 North Main Street, Gunlock, Utah.
A visitation will be held Saturday, prior to service, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Gunlock Cemetery.
