Mervin Alfred Schmidt, son of Henry J. and Johanna J. (Tschetter) Schmidt, was born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, Canada. He enslisted in the Army on 8 June 1943 and served in Company "B" of the 558th Field Artillery. He was in "The Battle of the Bulge".
He married Eva Donna (Fosnot) Wink on 6 Dec 1945 in Vancouver, WA. He had three step-sons, Burton, Dale, Mhaynard Wink, one son, Larry Schmidt and two daughters Eva and Clarissa Schmidt.
He is buried in Section K Site 482 in Willamette National Cemetery.
