Jane H. Garber, age 76, of Pleasant Run Farm in Pleasant Valley, passed on April 23, 2018 after a courageous battle with leukemia. Jane worked as a caregiver, also in the family auctioneering business and in the operation of their Pleasant Run Farm. Jane loved gardening and was well known for her beautiful flowers. She was very active in volunteering for the Salvation Army, Mt. Crawford Ruritan Club and her church, St. James United Methodist Church in Pleasant Valley.

Jane is survived by her husband, Larry E. Garber, retired auctioneer; her daughter, Lynda McMillen and husband, Bob of Belmont Estates; her sons, Gregory Garber and wife, Michelle of Pleasant Valley and L. Todd Garber and wife, Baker of Bridgewater. Also surviving are her granddaughter, Madison McMillen and fiancé, Justin Layman of Bridgewater; her grandsons, Taylor Garber of Pleasant Valley, and Waring and Peyton Garber of Bridgewater. She also leaves behind her sisters, Helen Bryant of Salem, Margie Miller and husband, Bob of Pleasant Valley, Beverley Sandy of Mt. Crawford; her brother, C. Nelson Herring and wife, Marie of Harrisonburg; brothers-in-law, Ronnie Garber and wife, Liz, and Dick Garber and wife, Pat; sister-in-law, Sandra Heatwole; and her loyal friend Linda Moore. Jane was preceded in death by her mother, Maggie Herring; her brothers, Lynwood, Ernest and Dallas Herring and her sister, Eunice Shifflett.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be conducted, 2 p.m.,Thursday, April 26, 2018, at St. James United Methodist Church in Pleasant Valley, by Pastor Carrie Talbott. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. James United Methodist Church c/o - P.O. Box 370, Pleasant Valley, VA 22848, where Jane was a faithful member and treasurer of the United Methodist Women for 40 years; or to the Salvation Army Ladies Auxiliary, 185 Ashby Avenue, Harrisonburg, VA 22802, where she was an active member and worked tirelessly for the kids clothing drive for underprivileged children. Jane was loved by many and will be greatly missed.
