Eunice Elizabeth Herring Shifflett, 92 of Harrisonburg passed away peacefully on Friday, April 24, 2015.
She is survived by her daughter, Joan Brooks and husband Joe, her son, Steve N. Shifflett and wife Linda, granddaughters Tammy Garber (Vic), Sandy Morris (Jerry), Amy Nesselrodt (Mike) and Olivia Shifflett, the lights of her life, her great-grandchildren, Anna Garber, Maddie Garber, Kelsea Morris (Joseph Crouse) , Aubree Morris, Joseph Nesselrodt and Amanda Nesselrodt, her sisters, Margie Miller, Jane Garber, Helen Bryant and Beverly Sandy and her brother Nelson Herring.
Eunice was preceded in death by her husband Charles Nelson Shifflett and her beloved great-grandson Tanner Brooks Morris. She was also preceded in death by her brothers: Ernie Herring, Lynwood Herring, and Dallas Herring.
Eunice was an avid reader and loved doing word search puzzles. She and her husband were long time restaurant owners in Harrisonburg including the C & E Diner. She was a long time auxiliary member of the Salvation Army, where she spent many hours ringing the bell at Christmas time. She loved spending time sitting on her front porch with her dogs Jack, Sammie and Lilly.
Family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Sunday at Grace Mennonite Church in Lacey Spring, VA. A private family burial will be on Monday.
The casket will be closed. There will be no services at the Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway. The guest book may only be signed at the visitation. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Tanner Brooks Morris Memorial Scholarship Fund (scholarship given yearly to a BHS student).
