Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 14, 2017 at 2:00pm in First Presbyterian Church of Tifton with Reverend Dr. Jarred Hammet officiating. Bob Fant, his son, will deliver the Eulogy. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45pm on Saturday before the service in the church social hall. Interment to follow at Tift Memorial Gardens.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be First Presbyterian Men’s lunch group.
Mr. Fant was born June 9, 1938 in Montgomery, Ala., to the late Lee Jackson Fant, Sr., and Mattie White Fant. He was married to Nancy McGinty Fant who died February 15, 2013. He was retired from Dan River Textile Company in Danville, VA, where he was the distribution manager. He had lived in Tifton since 2004 and was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Tifton where he served as treasurer. He enjoyed coaching his sons in baseball. He graduated in 1961 from Auburn University and was an avid Auburn fan throughout his life.
Mr. Fant is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law; Bob and Eileen Fant of Colorado Springs, CO., David & Teresa Fant of Tifton; six grandchildren, David & Janelle Fant, Jonathan & Jessica Fant, Sara Fant, Christopher James Fant, Allen & Nicky Lamb, Andy & Jessica Sumner and eight great grandchildren, Leilani Fant, Micah Fant, Tucker Lamb, Taylor Lamb, Iven Sumner, Owen Sumner, Jonathan Lewis Fant, Patrick Fant.
