Dr. Samuel Gorton lived at Big Flats and Corning, N. Y., and was a physician of large practice. After his death Mrs. Gorton, with three of her sons, Darwin, George and Jackson, went to Illinois - probably in 1833. She married there a Mr. Gray, and lived with him until her death in 1867.
NOTE: This Section 577 states earlier that Dr. Gorton died July 1, 1829. His date of death engraved on his grave marker clearly shows July 1, 1827. The latter date is accepted as the correct one.
