An undated newspaper article was included in the Find-a-Grave memorials for some member of the Powell Family. "To Destroy Powell Plot. Another Family Burying Ground on Long Island to Pass Away--Bodies to be Removed to Greenfield Cemetery. The original Powell Family Cemetery was on the Powell farm on the corner of Grand Avenue and Babylon Turnpike. The cemetery was located about 1,000 feet north of the Powell home. Charles Powell was the original settler there and was buried there in 1842, and his wife Mary was buried there 14 December 1853. Included in the list of family members buried there was John B. Powell, who lived at the homestead with his wife Anna. Anna (Pettit) Powel died 10 January 1875 and was buried in the Powell family plot. Her husband John B. died 6 April 1875. The newspaper article was clipped and included in a Powell family Find a Grave memorial, but the copy does not give the date or name of the newspaper.
