Mr. King was born in Randolph County and was a son of the late David O. and Minnie Frye King. He was preceded in death by his wives, Lucy D. King and Betty Tiernan King.
Mr. King served during WW II and Korea with the US Army before retiring as a major with 23 years service. He then worked for 18 years with Sears. He had lived in Asheville since 1972 where he was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church.
Surviving are four daughters, Patricia K. Sutphin and her husband, Johnny, Doreen K. Olivera, Bonita Leigh King and Toni K. Cioli; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be con-celebrated by the Revs. Fr. John M. Pagel and C. Morris Boyd at 11:00 A.M. Monday at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
