John J. Hanlon, 50, Dies
Following Auto Accident
Pneumonia contracted following an automobile accident Friday near Selinsgrove, resulted in the death of John J. Hanlon, 49, of 2005 Bellevue Road, last night in a hospital at Sunbury. Exposure to the damp, cold weather apparently caused pneumonia. Hanlon's injuries were not believed to be serious at the time of the accident.
Hanlon. who was a special agent of the American Insurance Company of Newark, N. J., suffered several fractured ribs and cuts and bruises of the head in the crash, which occurred while he was returning from a business trip to Scranton. A skidding truck trailer, Hanlon's car and another machine collided. For some time after the crash, Hanlon lay in the snow until he was taken to the Sunbury Hospital.
Surviving him are his widow, Mrs. Elizabeth, Yost Hanlon; two sons, John and Paul Hanlon; two daughters, Miss Janet and Miss Betty Rettew, all of Harrisburg; two brothers, Charles and Thomas Hanlon; his mother, Mrs. J. P. Hanlon, and two sisters, Miss Alice, known in the church as Sister Rose Magdalene, and Miss Mary Hanlon, all of Newark. N. J.
He was a member of the Field Club, an insurance association.
