FORMER MADISONIAN DIES
AT HIS HOME IN NEWARK

John Hanlon, Once in Business
Here, Dies at Age of 78, Lived
Here Many Years

Funeral services were held Wed-
nesday morning in St. Joseph’s
Church in Newark for the late John
T. Hanlon formerly of Madison.
Mr. Hanlon, who was 78 years of
age, died at his home at 31 Myrtle
avenue in Newark on Saturday. In-
terment was in St. Vincent’s Ceme-
tery here.
The deceased was well known in
Madison and for many years con-
ducted a blacksmith shop on Cen-
tral avenue. He later moved this to
South Orange avenue in Newark
and conducted it there until his re-
tirement about ten years ago.
Surviving him are his wife Ellen
T. Hanlon, two daughters, Miss
Mary Hanlon of Newark and Sister
Rose Magdalen of the Order of St.
Benedict, Elizabeth, three sons,
John J. of Harrisburgh, Pa., Charles
and Thomas of Newark and two
grandchildren.

Mr. Hanlon, who was 78 years of
