Paul was born Nov. 10, 1949, in Warren, a son of the late Paul E. Sr. and Elva Mack Handwork, and he lived his life in this area.
Paul was a 1967 graduate of Greenford High School and after graduation he proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
He was the fire chief of Green Township for over 20 years, and he also worked for 30 years at the General Motors Lordstown Plant, retiring in 2000.
Mr. Handwork was known to all as a friendly man who was always quick-witted and was a natural born leader. He enjoyed camping, his cribbage club, and his three cats, and he loved his children and grandchildren dearly.
Paul leaves his wife, Kathy Riffle Berkey Handwork, whom he married Feb. 13, 2016; two sons, Paul E. III (Ann Marie) Handwork of Waldorf, Md. and Walter L. Handwork of North Lima; a daughter, Christina (Carlon) Thompson of Sacramento, Calif; a stepdaughter, Halla N. Berkey of Boardman; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a brother, Timothy (Debbie) Handwork of Canfield.
His first wife, Iva Jean Hilliard Handwork, whom he married June 27, 1970, passed away Oct. 6, 2004.
Interment will be at Canfield Village Cemetery.
