JOHN EDWARD BEDELL
February 19, 1924 ~ December 14, 2018

John Edward (Ed) Bedell our beloved patriarch was born on February 19, 1924 in Glasscock County Texas and gently slipped into heaven on December 14, 2018.

He was a World War II hero. He served as a tail gunner for the famous “Flying Tigers”. He was awarded seven battle stars for his courage and bravery.

He was truly a member of the greatest generation, but Ed would want to be remembered as a “family man”, the hero stuff wasn’t important to him.

He was a confirmed bachelor until he met Zola Joiner, the woman that stole his heart. The letters he wrote her during the war always professed his love for her. He believed she was the most beautiful girl in the world, and how lucky he was that she chose him.

His children were his joy in life. As his grandkids came, he embraced them all, some were biological, some adopted, and some married into the family, he loved them all.

His faith in Jesus was the bedrock of his life. When Zola died a part of him went with her, but he was confident and patiently waiting knowing that his “preacher lady” wife was waiting for him until it was time to be with her again.

Ed’s family still on earth include his three children, John Bedell and his wife Belinda; Clay Bedell and his wife Janice; and Tonya Hux and her husband Mark.

His grandchildren include John’s children Katrina Avers, Alysea Johnson, Arianna Bedell, John Christian Thomas Bedell, Joshua Bedell, and Jacob Bedell;

Clay’s children Sarah Hamner, Jenah Hamilton, Micah Pillmore, Garth Hamner, and Allison Bedell.

Tonya’s children Chad Hux and Jeffrey Hux.

Ed also loved all 24 great-grandchildren and never complained (at least out loud) when they crawled all over him and played hide and seek all through his house.

He is also survived by his sisters; Nokie Roberts (Joe), Frankie Sowers (Monty), and brother DeeCye Bedell (Judy).

We are all celebrating the fullness of Ed’s life and are rejoicing together that he is now in heaven.

Ed is preceded in death by his wife, Zola Pearl Joiner Bedell, mother, Stella Mae Richardson Bedell, father, Clay Curry Bedell, and three brothers; Clay Richardson, Brooks Garfield, and Earl (Hoppy) Harper, and one sister Fern Bedell.

Memorials can be made to Dale Graham’s Veteran Benefits, 1268 N. Interstate Dr., Norman, OK or Upper Room Thrift Shop N. 2nd St. and E Roberts Ave Kingfisher, Ok 73750.

*So sorry for your loss. I won't be able to attend the funeral because that is the day of my firm's Christmas Lunch. Thoughts and prayers are with you. You can be rest assured that Grandpa Ed has been reunited with his lovely bride, Zola.
