CHARLES LEROY ABBOTT
West Jordan - Charles LeRoy (Roy) Abbott, 73, West Jordan farmer, died Friday about 9 p.m. at his home after a long illness.
A son of James B. and Margaret Shields Abbot, he was born in West Jordan April 27, 1878. He married Bertha Irving in the Salt Lake Temple, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, June 28, 1905.
Mr. Abbott lived most of his life upon a West Jordan farm, with the exception of seven years spent at Magna. At that time, he operated a livery stable and freight line between Tooele and Salt Lake City.
Active in the LDS Church, he was a high priest in the West Jordan First LDS Ward.
Survivors include his widow, West Jordan; two daughters, Mrs. Dan (Marie) Stuart, Sandy, and Mrs. Harvey (Leila) Cundick, Midvale; three sons, Irving Abbott, Fairbanks, Alaska; Hollis Abbott, Ogden, and LeGrande Abbott, Butte; seven grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Charles Gregor, Salt Lake City.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. in West Jordan LDS Ward Chapel. Burial will be in West Jordan Cemetery.
