OBITUARY
George David Truitt was born Nov. 8, 1852, one mile north of Elmer, Missouri, and passed away at his home, Nov. 13, 1937 at the age of 85 years and 5 days. On Nov. 6, 1879 he was married to Miss Ella Griffin of La Crosse. To this union four children were born, two having preceded him in death, a son, Bertie died in infancy, and a daughter, Mrs. Daisy McCormick died July 28, 1925.
He leaves to mourn his passing a wife, two daughters, Mrs. Edna Branham and Mrs. Nannie Wilkinson, both of Alfalfa, Oklahoma; also 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Mr. Truitt was a member of the Universalist Church having united with the church 50 years ago and was a faithful member until the end which came Saturday morning Nov. 13, after suffering a stroke. For years he had been handicapped by an unavoidable affliction for which he never complained. He was a public school teacher for many years and had been an uplift to many children in his day.
He also was a successful farmer until the past few years. Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon at the Christian Church in the presence of a large concourse. Interment was made in the Elmer Cemetery.
