Rev. Gerald Norton Boyer, 94, of Arden, died Wednesday, April 12, 2006, at the Oaks at Sweeten Creek.

A native of Newman, IL, he was a son of the late James and Frances Mae Westhaver Boyer. He served as pastor of Calvary Memorial Church in Rockford, IL from 1938-1967. Rev. Boyer was retired from United World Mission where he served as the Executive Director of Missionary Programs from 1967-1992. He was a member of Cornerstone Church in Asheville.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Rose Wishart Boyer; a daughter, Carole Hawkinson of Asheville; a son, Jerry Boyer of Rockford, IL; a brother, Wendell Boyer and wife Betty of Beloit, WI; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
