After serving as pastor of churches in Illinois, Ohio, and Wisconsin, the Boyers founded the People's Church in Beloit in 1942. Wendell remained its pastor until he retired in 1983. In 1942 he joined with other pastors to organize the United World Mission and served on that Board until his death. His love for people prompted his serving on several boards including the Christian League for the Handicapped and Evangelical Child and Family Association.
Pastor Boyer was heard Sunday morning for many years on the Good News Broadcast and was one of those who initiated the Tent Revivals in Beloit and Rock County.
Love was the dominant characteristic of his life. He loved his God, his family, his church, and his town - he loved Beloit!
