Funeral services for Sarah "Ethel" McClaskey, 91, of Nampa, who died Friday, June 28, at her home, will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday at the Alsip Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Kenneth B. Britt, pastor of the Nampa First Christian Church, officiating. Interment will follow at the Kohlerlawn Cemetery.
She was born on Aug. 20, 1893, at Putnam County, Mo., to Richard and Isabelle Musgrove. At age 16 she moved to Exline, Iowa, with her family, where she was reared and attended high school. She married Charley Orin McClaskey on Aug. 5, 1913, in Moulton, Iowa. They lived near Searsboro, Iowa, until 1920, when they moved to Hoffman, Minn. They farmed in Hoffman until 1935, when they moved to LaBarge, Wyo. In December of 1935 they came to Nampa. They farmed in the Nampa area for several years and owned and operated a farm in the Bennett District. They later moved to Marsing, where they continued farming. He retired and they moved back to Nampa. Her husband died on Dec. 31, 1980, and she had resided in Nampa since. She was a member of the Christian Church and was well known for the flowers she grew and gave away.
She is survived by three daughters, Dorothy Miller and Virginia Reichart, both of Nampa, and Kathleen Marsh of San Pedro, Calif.; a son, Charles McClaskey of Caldwell; eight grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Pauline Slaughter, three brothers and three sisters. The family suggests memorials be made to the Home Health Care program at Mercy Medical Center in Nampa, the Nampa First Christian Church, the Idaho Free Methodist Church in Huston, the United Methodist Church on South Side Boulevard in Nampa, or flowers may be sent. Friends may call at the Alsip Funeral Chapel from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 8 a.m. to 2 pm. Monday.
