Jonathan Kenney Jr. was the first born child and son of Jonathan Kinne/Kenney and Rebecca N(o)urse. He was born in the part of Boxford that was soon to become Middleton. He was baptized in Salem on 8 June 1712.

Jonathan Sr. and Rebecca moved their family from Essex Co. to Sutton, soon to be Worcester Co during the mid 1720's.
Jonathan Jr. there met and married Prudence Gale on 3 Mar 1735, the daughter of Ebenezer Gale Sr. and Elizabeth Green, also transplants from Essex and Middlesex Co's.

Jonathan and Prudence lived and owned land at various times in both Sutton as well as the neighboring town of Oxford where Prudence's parents lived. Jonathan and Prudence had 9 children of record all in Sutton vital records:
(1) Jonathan (the 3rd) baptized 17 July 1736 and died before Mar. 1740.
(2) Prudence baptized 4 Dec 1737, she married Joseph Lillie in Sutton 12 Oct 1769, and both were listed as from Charlton.
(3) Jonathan (the 3rd) baptized 30 Mar. 1740, no further record.
(4) Nathan B 4 Nov. 1741. Nathan at the age of 15 shouldered much of the responsibility of his siblings after his father's death and his mother was also deceased. Nathan 1st married a 3rd cousin through their shared N(o)urse blood line, Abigail Williams, both in and of Westborough on 6 Nov. 1768, Nathan as a widower married again on 8 Oct. 1780 in Sutton his 2nd cousin Eunice Kenney, and 3rd married Anna Bibbins Chaffee Robinson of and in Conn.
(5) Violette/Bilotta B 1 May 1744. She was living in Brookfield at the time, but married in Sutton on 21 Apr. 1768 to Jonathan Gale of Oxford (he was her 1st cousin)
(6) Rebecca B 18 Apr. 1746. She married on 9 Jan 1776 in Conn. to Nathan Hiscox/Hiscock of Union Conn.
(7) Jonas B 24 Oct. 1748. He married on 13 Feb 1777 in Mansfield Conn. to Mary Baker. Their marriage intention was also filed in Mendon Ma. on 21 Dec 1776.
(8) Lucy B 27 Oct. 1750. No further record.
(9) Mary B 16 Aug 1754 and baptized 6 Oct. 1754. She married 2 Feb. 1774 in Sutton to David Grover.

Sometime after the birth of daughter Mary in 1754, and before Jonathan's mother Rebecca was in charge of requesting her brother Ebenezer Nurse to be the executor of Jonathan Jr.s estate on 22 Jan 1757, Jonathan's wife Prudence had to have died to not have been the one to be requesting this position.

Jonathan's death occurred sometime in the fall or early winter of 1756, and as previously mentioned his mother Rebecca Wheelock requested of "Judge Wilder of Lancaster in the courts of Worcester Co. to appt. Mr. Ebenezer Nurse (her brother) of Westborough to administer her son Jonathan's estate who is lately deceased in the expedition against Crown Point", and this was cosigned by Jonathan's 15 year old son Nathan.

The loss of life in two of the branches of the Kenney families in Sutton during the French and Indian War was substancial. Besides Jonathan Jr, his brothers Sgt. Nathan Kenney of Sutton and Sgt. Henry Kenney (born in Sutton but living in Dunstable at the time of his service) as well as these 3 men's close 2nd cousins, William Kenney Sr. and Daniel Kenney 3rd (known as Jr. in Sutton), all 5 of these men perished in the conflict at various times and engagements. 4 of them left widows and 16 children in total without a father.

Jonathan's exact date of death and exact location are not known as also happened to very many fighting in the wilderness.
