Colene was not only a full time homemaker, but also was very active in her community. She was a volunteer ombudsman for 15 years at Mennonite Friendship Communities in South Hutchinson. She was a mainstay volunteer in the Alzheimer Association and other volunteers groups as well.
She married the love of her life, Justin L. Ankerholz in Sylvia, Kansas on December 21, 1951. He preceded her in death on August 31, 2003.Survivors include 2 sons, Jeffrey (Ramona) Ankerholz of Hutchinson, Kansas, Kenneth Ankerholz of Inman, Kansas; 1 sister, Shelba Wilson of McPherson, Kansas; 1 granddaughter, Lana (Josh) Lambert of Inman, Kansas; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
A gathering for friends will take place Wednesday, December 5, 2018 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm with the family present from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Old Mission – Heritage Funeral Home, 528 N. Main, Hutchinson, Kansas. A graveside celebration of life shall take place Thursday, December 6, 2018 at 11:00 am at North Inman Cemetery, Inman, Kansas. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to the Kansas Alzheimer’s Association and left in care of the funeral home.
