Born Jan. 25 [sic], 1910 in Carroll County, she was the daughter of James E. Barron and Ida B. Holder. On September 23, 1944, she was married to Bill Smith.
Survivors include her husband of the home; two sons, Jimmy Owings of Dawn and Hugh Owings of Linneus; four sisters, Mrs. Leah Timbrook of Chillicothe and Mrs. Juanita Murray, Leota Aitkens and Bonnie Longstreet, all of Braymer; two brothers, Ernie Barron of Braymer and Gary Barron of Raytown; 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock at the Pitts Funeral Home in Braymer. Burial will be in the Black Oak Cemetery in Braymer." The Chillicothe Constitution-Tribune, July 19, 1982
