A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at Cold Springs United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Howard Floyd, with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-3 prior to the service in Krimminger Hall.
Gertrude was born on August 14, 1922 in Concord, NC to the late Martin Luther and Mary Loretta Winecoff Barnhardt. She is also preceded in death by her first husband, CJ Helms; second husband, Anton Burch; an infant son; sisters, Florence Shue, Lucille Maxwell, Katherine Aldridge; brothers, Carl, Henry, John, Paul, Orlando, Lee Barnhardt.
Gertrude was a member of Cold Springs UMC, a Veteran of the US Navy-Waves-serving in WWII and had retired from Concord Hosiery Mill. She enjoyed sewing, reading, traveling, and walking at the mall.
She is survived by her daughter, Pam Kendrick and husband, Larry Kendrick of Eden , NC; son, Jerry and wife ; grandchildren, Julie Dooley, Jacquenlyn , Brandon; great-grandchildren, Eric Dooley, Ryan Dooley, Bristol, Tucker, Caleb, and Beau; stepchildren, Demi Jo Bengert, Randy Burch, Alan Burch.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cold Springs UMC-Building Fund, 2550 Cold Springs Road, Concord, NC 28025.
