Herbert Gladney, the son of Lillie Gertrude Gladney, began his life's journey on February 11, 1949. He completed this journey on Sunday, November 25, 2018. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lillie Gertrude Gladney; sisters, Vistula Rose Hyde and Jimmye Ruth Cooper; mother-in-law, Isabelle Norvell.
Herb, as he was affectionately known, was a life-long resident of Moss Point. He completed his academic studies in the Moss Point City School Systems, graduating from Magnolia High School in 1967. He joined the United States Air Force in 1970 where he achieved status as accomplished marksman. He completed his military services in 1988, and was discharged as Sargent. He was employed with the City of Pascagoula for several years, retiring as a Crew Leader in 2008.
He united with the Lighthouse Apostolic Church as a young man, under the pastoral leadership of the late Bishop David L. Brewer. He was later affiliated with the Apostolic Disciples of Christ.
Herb was united in matrimony to Walterene Norvell in June of 1988. This union was blessed with a daughter, Miranda Denise.
Herbert leaves to forever cherish his memories his wife Wally, daughters, Miranda (Jorge) Reyes of D'Iberville, MS and Yvonne Williams, of Atlanta, GA; sister, Debra Gladney Goldsmith of Moss Point, MS; sisters-in-law, Gertrude Williams, Pascagoula, MS, Eleanor (Louis) Tait of Moss Point, MS; brother-in-law, Vincent (Victoria) Norvell of Theodore, AL; uncle, Bennie Truitt and aunt, Doretha Gladney, of Moss Point, MS. God-daughter, Dionne Black and God-son, Tyson Mitchell; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; including devoted friends Gary (Huss) and Dorothy Lewis and Lawrence Peyton, Jr., of Moss Point, MS, Antoine Turnipseed of Leakesville, MS, and Gary Lewis of Canton, OH.
