Earl M. "Bud" Rafus Jr., 67, formerly of Wilmington, Vt., died Sunday at the Veterans Administration Medical Center. Mr. Rafus was born Sept 14, 1920 in Wilmington, the son of Earl M. and Marguarette (Johnson) Rafus. He was a 1938 graduate of Wilmington High School and prior to World War II had been employed by the New England Box Co. in Wilmington. Mr. Rafus was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II serving with the 2nd Armored Div. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and received the Purple Heart. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and he had resided in Brockton since 1971. Survivors include his son, Earl M. "Skip" Rafus III of Wilmington, his daughter, Linda Owens of Ocala, Fla., five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. at the Covey and Allen Funeral Home in Wilmington with the Rev. Theodore Newcomb III, pastor of the Wilmington Congregational Church officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in Riverview Cemetery in Wilmington.
