Eula Gentry May was born on May 25, 1927 in Putnam County, Tennessee to Arnold and Lona Gentry. Eula passed away peacefully on November 14, 2018 in Red Bluff, California.
Eula met Milton May and the two of them settled in California after he left the service. They had 3 children, Mildred (May) Pepitone, Robert May, and Russell May.
Eula studied and become a Registered Nurse and began working at Corning Hospital and then worked at Enloe Hospital in Chico for many years. When Eula and Milton divorced, she continued to work for Enloe Hospital as well as farm olives at her Corning Ranch. Eula was never one to shy away from hard work, even holding down 2 or 3 jobs at once while working in the olive orchards after work fertilizing or irrigating the orchards. Her work ethic was the strongest of anyone ever. Eula continued to work well into her seventies. Once retired, she enjoyed spending time with her friends at the Corning Senior Center and having coffee with her friends from Corning. She adored her children, especially her daughter, Millie, whom she traveled with later in life a few times. She loved seeing her grandson, Todd Sturgis and her great grandchildren when they came to visit. Eula lived a long and full life from Tennessee to California and loved her family very much. She will be missed by friends and family around the Corning area.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arnold and Lona Gentry, brothers Woodrow Gentry, Arlow Gentry, and Arnold Gentry Jr.; sisters Laura (Gentry) Hesson, Elise (Gentry) Bess, Agnes Gentry, and Pearl (Gentry) Merritt. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Mildred (May) Pepitone, and sons Robert May, and Russell May. She is survived by her brother Howard Gentry, grandson Todd Sturgis, great-grandchildren Jacob Sturgis, Katherine Sturgis, Elizabeth Sturgis, and Riley Sturgis.
