Susan Kay Gallmeyer, 56, of Hoagland, Indiana passed away Wednesday evening, November 14, 2018 at her residence following an unexpected medical emergency.

She was born on May 20, 1962 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Carl W. Lilie and Eileen (Greber) Lilie – Bortner. Sue was united in marriage to Byron Gallmeyer on September 17, 1983 at Emanuel Lutheran Church in New Haven.

Sue was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Soest. She graduated in 1980 from New Haven High School and also received an Associate Degree in Business Management from IPFW. While at IPFW, she was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority.

Sue was employed by Radiation Oncology Associates in Fort Wayne for over 15 years. She was the smiling face that greeted people that were facing cancer challenges in their lives…and they appreciated that smile.

Sue was a proud wife, mom, and grandma (maw-maw) who loved her family and her dogs. She was kind and would help anyone at any time…she was a taxi for many. When she made a meal…everyone had leftovers to take home. She enjoyed planning family vacations with creativity. In June, she took Byron on a vacation to visit places in Wisconsin that they hadn’t visited for 30 years and in October the entire family took a vacation to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee…memories that won’t be forgotten.

She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Byron Gallmeyer of Hoagland, IN; son, Matthew (Brittney) Gallmeyer of Decatur, IN; two daughters, Kristen and Rachel Gallmeyer both of Hoagland, IN; sister, Nan (Bob) Isenbarger of New Haven, IN; granddaughter, Avery Gallmeyer; step-mother, Kay Lilie of Huntington, IN; step-brother, Brad (Maureen) Welty of Huntington, IN; step-sister, Kelly (Mike) Ferneau of Benton Harbor, MI; and aunt, Jane (Greber) Egbert – Exley of New Bremen, OH.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Soest located at 9909 Wayne Trace in Fort Wayne with Pastor Josef Henning officiating. Burial will follow at Concordia Cemetery Gardens in Fort Wayne.
