Anna Katherine Rutledge Alford, age 101, died November 8, 2018, in her home in McComb. She was born October 25, 1917, in McComb, to Grace Kornrumpf Rutledge and William Ormsby Rutledge. She graduated from McComb High School and the University of Mississippi. She married James Louis "Lit" Alford on June 7, 1941, and lived in McComb for her entire life. Anna and Louis' firstborn, Emily Rutledge Alford, was the first baby born in McComb to a father who was fighting in WW II, which birth brought an outpouring of gifts from the citizens of McComb.Visitation will be Sunday November 11, 2018 from 1 PM until services at 3 PM at Hartman-Jones Funeral Home of McComb. Dr. Jim Porter and Connie Felter will officiate and a private family burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery.Anna was an active member of Centenary United Methodist Church and the McComb Junior Auxillary. Always a supportive and caring mother, she volunteered at her church, her children's schools and extracurricular activities. She was a true southern lady and gracious hostess who enjoyed reading; travelling with her husband, children and grandchildren; and playing bridge. She cherished her friends, and holiday and social gatherings with family and friends were very important to her and Lit. She is remembered as polite, intelligent, positive, empathetic and having a sense of humor.The family appreciates the loyal attentiveness of her special friends and caregivers: Eddie Jean Bowsky, Frances Cook, Kathy Gatlin, Sarah Scott, Pearl Turner, Georgia White and Brenda Leonard. The kindness demonstrated by the St. Luke Hospice nurses and aids, under the able leadership of Vicky Brown, made this last chapter of her life comfortable and peaceful.Anna is survived by four children: Emily Alford Carlisle and husband, Duke, of Dixie Springs; Jim Alford and wife, Libba, of McComb; Kathy Alford Swaney of Palm Beach Gardens Fl, and Elise Alford Lambuth and husband, Bruce, of Ridgeland MS; 10 grandchildren: Kathy Carlisle Wallace; Eloise Carlisle Terry and Rich; Anna Alford Proctor and Brad; Louis Alford and Kavita; Frances Alford Hendrickson and Will; Emily Swaney Goldenberg and Larry; Adam Swaney and Megan; Ann Lambuth Elliston and Tyler; James Lambuth and Jocelyn; John Lambuth and Jamie; and 25 great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters and one brother.Memorials may be made to Centenary United Methodist Church, P.O.
