JESSE CHRISTY IS DEAD
Jesse Christy, one of the pioneer citizens of this vicinity, died at t he home of his daughter, Mrs. Will Santee, on South Pine Street, Tuesday evening. Mr. Christy had been in poor health for some time and because of his advanced age his death was not unexpected. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. H. Vern Winters at the Santee home Thursday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock and the body was laid to rest in the Vance cemetery three miles east of town where his mother and his children are buried. Mr. Christy was born in Indiana May 7, 1837 and moved with his family to Iowa when a young man and from there came to this county 41 years ago. He was 81 years, 10 months and 11 days old. He is survived by his aged wife, the one daughter, Mrs. Santee and several relatives, among whom are Mrs. Margaret Atchison, Mrs. Lottie Burris, and Mrs. Belle Weber, who are neices and Mrs. Effie Marker, a grandaughter.
